Dolls are a popular item to collect. However, the joy experiended on to the owner is not always appreciated to progeny of the owner or to buyers of this kind of collection. Newer dolls sold by Ashton Drake, Lenox, Bradford Exchange and other vendors are beautiful, cute or a series drop in value from the original prices paid usually after time. If luck would have it, sometimes someone is willing to pay more that $25 to $50 for one of those adorable figures. Of course, there are exceptions to that rule. I have seen John Wayne, the Wizard of Oz dolls, Shirley Temple (newer) and few others break this rule.
The story changes with dolls of a certain age and manufactor. Sometimes folk dolls, story book dolls and others are very collectible. Check out http://etsy.me/6pS1gX for some of the exceptions.
